Primary Purpose:

Functions as a technical specialist or supervisory role. Independently develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. May supervise engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity, or serve as a technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage, develop, and provide resources necessary for project execution and ensure execution plans are followed for all projects and workflow in the region. Reports to the West Managing Director and coordinates regional project support and interfaces with Engineering Services across Americas and globally.

This position may be located Kansas City or at any Water office within the West Region.

This position shall be a 3 year assignment.

  1. Business Development

a) Support business development by providing staffing, execution and pricing strategies

b) Proposal preparation - Assist with the development of Project Execution Plans during the proposal stage between Project Management and Engineering Services; assist in development of scope, schedule and budget for projects.

c) Coordinate the engagement of Mumbai in pursuits and execution strategies.

  1. Project Execution

a) Determine staffing plans for offices within West Region

b) Coordinate the involvement of Mumbai during project initiation activities

c) Ensure project trend management systems are utilized and monitored

d) Monitor internal client satisfaction and manage communication appropriately

e) Lead by example in leadership on projects

f) Remain partially billable (30% - 40%) through project activities

g) Participate in project reviews and PDEWs. Work with PMO, PM, and team to develop and implement corrective action plans to increase quality, mitigate risk, and increase net PGM

h) Assist with development of project recovery plans to include schedule, budget, and resource corrections

  1. Workforce Development and Management

Serve as Department Head for West Region Civil Engineering and manage Office Resource Managers:

a) Develop workload projections across regions based on input from PMs/EMs and review on a periodic basis

b) Provide visible leadership of EM’s within the region. Requires regular communication with staffing supervisors and all EM’s and will include solicitation of feedback

c) Work with PM on staffing plans, project assignments, load sharing, and resume building

d) Work with regional leadership to provide collaborative hiring, promotions, transfers, and career development opportunities to all Civil Engineering Department Professionals.

e) Conduct workload sharing across regions and utilize global resources to improve Water Business and project financial performance

f) Identify and manage training needs

g) Lead performance management for regional engineers

h) Participate in oversight committee to drive standardization of key business processes (e.g. calibration, promotion process, perf. blueprint)

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
