Corporate Marketing & Communications (MarCom) is the global marketing and business development unit that builds strong relationships with external influencers and client decision makers in order to significantly enhance Black & Veatch’s revenue. MarCom’s focus is to increase global brand awareness and build client relationships that directly contribute to revenue by deploying innovative marketing and communications solutions.

Primary Purpose:

This is a management-level position and will be based in Black & Veatch’s world headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas at an exciting moment of company growth and opportunity. We are looking for a superb B2B marketing professional with cutting-edge and practical knowledge in areas including brand management, content creation, the buyer’s journey, customer segmentation and the voice of the customer.

You will play a senior role in the Marketing Strategy team and serve as a champion that elevates the Marketing function throughout Black & Veatch’s global and business line operations. . You will be responsible for implementing an enhanced umbrella brand roadmap and vision, and will be charged with creating more cohesive client experiences across all of Black & Veatch’s business units and groups, helping the company position for and win more profitable work.

You will be responsible for implementing a corporate umbrella brand, enhanced into business lines and extended into geographies. You will synthesize business line strategies, reflecting through marketing plans, and will be charged with creating more cohesive client experiences across all of Black & Veatch’s business units and groups, helping the company position for and win more profitable work.

Reporting into the global Director of Marketing Strategy, you will focus on aligning marketing across the company and business groups ensuring strategies are effectively implemented and communicated through all marketing projects. You will also oversee day-to-day operational activities and supervise other members of the Marketing Strategy team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a ONE Black & Veatch marketing mindset driving a consistent set of marketing tools and processes across B&V.

• Develop targeted value propositions by gaining specialized market intelligence from individual business and service lines.

• Identify, develop and implement lead and demand generation programs in alignment with business goals.

• Serve as the Center of Excellence Leader for marketing processes, tools and systems.

• Research, identify, develop and execute strategic marketing communications plans in support of the businesses.

• Develop ABM plans which align to the overall sales and marketing strategies in an effort to capture new business.

• Support management in other matters as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field together with a passion for further education of yourself and others.

• At least ten years’ experience in B2B marketing, and more than five of which in a senior position with supervisory experience.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• International experience together with engineering and construction industry experience will be an advantage.

• Responsible for staffing, managing resources, performance management and career development.

• Serves as business advisor to marketing professionals and functional leaders of diverse business units and corporate groups.

• Ensures first line supervisors and/or staff get results.

• Typically monitors and has influence on budget of a limited scope.

Branding

• Brand management is considered complex and critical to the overall success of the company

• Responsible for development and implementation of strategic plans to promote and increase the brand identity to maximize company sales and contribute to profitable growth

• Focus is on corporate umbrella brand, enhanced into business lines and extended into geographies.

Marketing

• Manages the marketing function (e.g. assigning projects, reviewing/ editing/ approving marketing materials and collateral)

• Focuses on the differentiation strategy of our marketing efforts and being a client advocate, incorporating the client voice in materials

• Synthesize business line strategies, reflecting these through marketing plans and projects

• Implements and maintain best practices in understanding and maximizing the return on paid, owned and earned media channels

• Manages the forecasting of internal and external needs to develop marketing content for a wide variety of complex marketing applications and programs

• Oversees copy to be used, whether written internally or by an outside vendor

• Establishes and maintains quality assurance standards and procedures for all written material

• Responsible for scheduling all jobs into production schedule

• Maintaining records of copies for jobs on the production schedule

• Monitors budget performance

• Monitors performance of outside vendors and freelance contractors

Communications

• Focuses on writing differentiating and compelling content across all paid, owned and earned media channels

• Manages communications activities (e.g. assigning projects, reviewing/ editing/ approving written copy) while integrating critical information from many diverse areas

• Manages the forecasting of internal and external needs to develop copy content for a wide variety of complex marketing applications and programs

• Responsible for scheduling all jobs into production schedule

• Monitors budget performance

• Work involves a broad latitude for decision-making and review of actions through goal attainment
