Primary Purpose:

  1. To establish and develop landscape architectural services within BV’s Redhill & Chester Office, and contribute to the development and growth of the wider BV Landscape team.

  2. To provide landscape architectural services and input to projects.

  3. To provide landscape support to the BV Redhill Office along with the Chester office and other BV offices when required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To provide landscape input to options appraisals and feasibility studies

  2. To undertake landscape surveys, appraisals and assessments, at both outline and detailed levels

  3. To lead the production of landscape design work and drawings, including constraints plans, high-level concepts, landscape masterplans, detailed construction and planting plans, illustrations and visualisations.

  4. To produce cost estimates for landscape works.

  5. To oversee tender processes and provide contract administration using JCLI Forms of Agreement.

  6. To provide specialist landscape input to fee bids and proposals.

  7. To provide specialist / technical reviews of landscape work produced by external consultant landscape architects.

  8. To liaise and collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal professionals from a range of technical disciplines.

  9. To deliver project tasks on time and within agreed budgets.

This post is to report to and liaise with:

  1. BV’s Principal Landscape Architect (based on Chester),

  2. BV’s Team Leader for Redhill for Environmental Services) (based on Redhill)

  3. BV’s environmental project managers (based at Redhill and / or other locations)

  4. BV’s project managers (based at Redhill and / or other locations)

There are, initially, no supervisory responsibilities for this post over other personnel. This may change is the landscape team expands in future.

Required competences:

Landscape appraisal, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, landscape feasibility studies, report writing, landscape design and presentation work, landscape contract administration, communication skills, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite.

Special requirements:

Must be self-reliant and able to work as sole landscape practitioner within the Redhill Office, with remote support from the landscape team in the Chester Office.

Must be willing and able to travel on an occasional basis to sites and other office locations throughout the UK.

Must have particular interest and enthusiasm in ecological design / habitat creation, and landscape assessment work.

Essential requirements:

Post graduate qualification in landscape architecture.

Full Driving Licence

Minimum 2 years post graduate experience in landscape architecture. Landscape assessment / LVIA.

Solid all-rounder with good knowledge of landscape assessment in particular.

Landscape assessment, written work, design & presentation work, communication skills, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite.

Team player, self-reliant, well organised, confident client-facing professional. Genuine interest in water infrastructure / flood resilience / flood alleviation. Genuine interest in ecological design / habitat creation.

Full time/Part time will be considered for this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & training:

Appropriate graduate / post graduate qualification in landscape architecture.

Full Driving Licence

Post graduate qualification in landscape architecture, accredited by the Landscape Institute.

Knowledge base:Solid all-rounder with good knowledge of landscape planning in particular.

Skills: Landscape assessment, written work, design & presentation work, communication skills, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud.

Personal attributes: Team player, self-reliant, well organised. Ability to demonstrate interest in water infrastructure / flood resilience / flood alleviation. Ability to demonstrate interest in ecological design / habitat creation.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Professional training in landscape assessment / LVIA.

CSCS Card Holder

Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).

Other environmental qualifications / professional memberships.

Experience within a large interdisciplinary office, large engineering-led projects.

Working with ecologists / environmental specialists.

Overseeing tender processes and contract administration using JCLI Forms of Agreement.

Experience working for / with the Environment Agency.

Environmental design / ecological design / (wetland) habitat creation, GIS user, visualisations / graphics.
