Primary Purpose:

Functions in a mid-level engineering technician capacity performing computer-aided drafting and design responsibilities in accordance to Black & Veatch standards. Also performs functions requiring intermediate knowledge and use of other electronic applications, standards and document control processes/procedures in support of creating and modifying deliverables. This position will support Power and/or Oil & Gas project initiatives for Black & Veatch, which may include Power Generation, Nuclear, Renewable Energy, Distributed Energy, and Gas Processing. May also be tasked with providing technical guidance to less-experienced engineering technicians.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The individual in this role will continually learn and apply standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and B&V policies and procedures while supporting Black & Veatch clients in the Power industry.

This individual will ensure that deliverables are accurate and compliant by continually developing knowledge of the B&V Quality Program and will demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts. The individual will review design inputs to ensure consistency. The individual will assist in ensuring deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.

Additionally, the individual in this position will broaden his/her knowledge of the applications required to modify and develop less complex deliverables based on a variety of design inputs and might assist with minor computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks. Additionally, this person might assist in coordinating deliverables with other groups involved on the same project to minimize interference or errors.

Finally, this role will require the individual to focus on the needs of internal clients while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers, all while proactively participating in knowledge sharing, innovation and technology - continually seeking and sharing knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years related work experience (drafting or design) strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with Bentley Microstation strongly preferred.

• Experience with BRCM or other 3D modeling experience is preferred

• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design related technology preferred.

• Experience with AutoCAD are a plus, but not required.

• Intermediate knowledge of other engineering disciplines.

• Basic knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles including the NEC.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to use spreadsheets to track circuits and manage raceway.

• Renewable energy experience a plus.
