Primary Purpose:

CAJV Quality Advisors engage in all aspects of construction based quality management including governance, assurance and continual improvement to ensure that CA operations are functioning to the highest standards, complying with all specifications, drawings and performance specifications, meeting the requirements of The Costain Way, Navigator (the eight2O management system), stakeholder needs, legal requirements and ISO 9001:2015

The main function is to help and assist project staff in the understanding of the requirements and how they should be delivered and ensure that the works and all management systems are completed “At Each Stage, Right First Time Every Time”.

The role will include advising, training, coaching and reviewing the systems being implemented and the works on site. The role will progress to include formal assessments and audits

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Understand both Black & Veatch and CAJV Policies and Procedures, The Eight2o Navigator, The Costain Way including the Must Do’s and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented.

  2. Provide operational and functional management with advice to ensure that the works and all management systems are completed “At Each Stage, Right First Time Every Time”.

  3. Assist the Project, Design, Construction and Commissioning Managers in preparing and developing the Project Design Plan, Project Works Plan and Project Commissioning Plans.

  4. Undertake a programme of advisory visits and reviews of operational sites and offices in agreement with the Construction and Regional Managers.

  5. Participate as requested in Quality Management audits of projects and contractors.

  6. Assist in the preparation of tender documents as appropriate.

  7. When requested, advise on the preparation of risk assessments.

  8. Monitor and report on the implementation of the company’s policies and procedures.

  9. Assist in the collection/compilation of the projects’ objectives, targets and KPI data.

  10. Assist in the preparation and implementation of Quality Management training courses.

  11. Attend provide support and input to BSI (third party), Client (second party) and Costain, BIA (first party ) audits

  12. Liaise with and support the Quality Lead

  13. Keep up to date with his/her professional competence level.

Experience and expertise:

• Associate or Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (advantageous)

• Internal or Lead Assessor trained (advantageous)

• Understanding of the principles of quality management or the desire to learn

• Sound understanding of site operations and construction processes / activities and company systems

• Sound understanding of the construction methods used including minimum requirements, best practise and defect free works

Skills and competencies:

• A desire to help people to get it right first time

• A desire to ensure all works are delivered defect free

• Understanding of the water industry

• Sound quality management awareness in terms of project planning and execution

• Sound awareness of construction, M&E and commissioning activities

• Understanding of design issues

• Self-motivated and good organiser

• Good presentation skills

• Good communicator and personable

• Able to work in a team or individually
