Primary Purpose:

The role is to support the business’s Maritime growth strategy by extending the Black & Veatch offering with other B&V businesses worldwide, especially marine terminals associated with LNG and power generation plant.

It is primarily a technical role involving participation in maritime civil engineering projects with the support of the Technical Director (Marine Terminals). It will require management of engineering resources and the development of specialist maritime engineering skills.

The individual will need to work well as part of a team, working closely with others. This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to develop his/her technical and project management skills particularly through worldwide multidisciplinary oil and gas projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/ Training

• MSc or MEng in Civil Engineering with maritime and coastal content

• Chartered Civil Engineer or close to submission

Background/ Experience

• Post graduation design office experience in marine terminal structures (jetties, breakwaters etc) in UK and overseas

Knowledge Base

• Heavy civil engineering design

• Knowledge of Eurocodes

Skills

• Analysis and design of maritime structures

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

Personal Attributes

• Proven ability to carry out design tasks reliably..

• Always seeking improvement in design and delivery performance

• Recognises client needs and delivers solutions

• Self motivated

• Full UK driving licence

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• CPD in a relevant specialist skill area

• Second degree in maritime engineering discipline

• Specialist knowledge of areas such as marine piling, dredging, port planning, quay wall design, structural analysis, marine geotechnics.

• Coastal engineering expertise (waves, rubble mound structures, coast protection works)

• Knowledge of international codes, contracts and specifications

• Report writing

• Knowledge of international codes and specifications

• Understands support needed by junior staff

• Team player

• Adaptable
