Primary Purpose:

Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expands knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Duties: Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, apply advanced electrical engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods in the electrical power generation industry, including the following: Prepare/lead a variety of complex electrical engineering deliverables, including: Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection; Prepare complex engineering calculations like CT saturation calculations following standard methods and principles; Prepare relaying and metering one-lines and Medium Voltage Switchgear one-lines; Review monthly project schedules and reports; Provide guidance to peers and entry-level engineers with moderately complex projects and career development; Review lower level engineering work or assignments; Prepare three-lines, one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations and control schematics for MV and LV power distribution equipment; Prepare auxiliary power equipment sizing calculations; Conduct electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit and relay coordination studies; Prepare protective relay setting calculations and setting files; Design wiring diagrams; Perform complex engineering calculations/studies related to power generation projects such as: conductor ampacity/derating, arc flash hazard analysis battery, charger, UPS sizing and voltage drop; Develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection; Review shop drawings, vendor quotes and perform bid evaluations; Develop construction release and startup procedure documents; Plan and conduct quality checks on power generation facility electrical and wiring design and calculations; Manage and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements; May lead smaller production teams; and serving as the responsible charge for a project; Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus three years of related experience in the power generation industry, or in the alternative, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus five years of related experience in the electrical power generation industry. Experience must include: preparing three-line diagrams; one-line diagrams; electrical equipment sizing (medium and low voltage); electrical equipment procurement, development, negotiation, and award for power generation electrical equipment; electrical system studies, including load flow & short circuit; cable & conduit sizing, battery, charger & UPS sizing calculation and voltage drop calculation. Must have experience using ETAP, Mathcad, Bentley tools or comparable tools. Must have knowledge of IEEE and IEC standards for major electrical equipment and design guides, including OSHA, UL, NEC, and NFPA. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. Must have experience supervising small groups. Must have a PE license.
