Electrical Engineer 2
Under close supervision, performs engineering functions requiring knowledge and experience in engineering principles. This level builds on experience gained as Engineer1 by either obtaining more depth in specific subject area with the expectation that assignments are larger and more complex, or by gaining experience in more subject areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design substations utilizing client standards including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, ground grid, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, and cable lists; prepare calculations and equipment specifications; prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, material list ,single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring; prepare equipment, material and construction specifications for projects; perform lightning protection analysis; and work with drafters to guide the development of drawings.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related, plus one year of related experience. Must be capable (as demonstrated either through work experience or academics) of the following: substation protection and control engineering; developing schematics; preparing line diagrams and AC/DC schematics, battery calculations and sizing. Must have experience working with high voltage equipment and apparatus and creating bills of material. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
