The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Approximately a 1 year contract opportunity for a Site Walk Field Technician in New York City area. Functions in a technician capacity, working primarily in the field, to walk telecommunication kiosk sites and gather data. We are looking for local professionals to walk the sites, locate utilities, draw sketches, take site notes and snap some photos. This position requires frequent travel around NYC. Although this position predominantly involves field work, it will also require completion of administrative tasks to document and upload field data and other tasks as required by project leadership.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
This job will be around a 1 year contract opportunity in the New York City area and entails field work around the NYC area to walk telecommunication kiosk sites and gather data. We are looking for local professionals to walk the sites, locate utilities, draw sketches, take a few site notes and snap some photos. Contractor will follow Black & Veatch travel and safety policies at all times.
1) Create sketch using electronic sketch tools (ie BlueBeam) accurately identifying all relevant field conditions (kiosk location, fixed infrastructure, sidewalk/street furniture, etc.)
2) Decide upon and mark proposed kiosk location in field using client provided siting criteria.
3) Photo document site conditions and proposed kiosk location.
4) Accurately label and upload field data in client database.
Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
Quality / Continuous Improvement:
Develops an understanding and complies with the Black & Veatch quality program. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Shares information with others as requested. Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:
Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Diploma or Certificate preferred.
Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc…)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organized, efficient and productive
Motivated, self-managed, independent worker
Keen attention to detail
Strong math and measurement skills
NYC specific sidewalk and roadway construction or engineering experience
Individual must be available to mobilize when scheduled and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle report
Must be able to work in all 5 boroughs of NYC in varying weather conditions
Urban transport (ie subway, cab, bus, etc.)
Must be able to stand, bend, squat, walk, move, lift, carry… equipment (>20lb) for the duration of the work day
