Mechanical Process Engineer
Concept, Functional and Preliminary design of mechanical process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Concept, Functional and Preliminary design of mechanical process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, including screening equipment, physical-chemical treatment plants, biological treatment plants, blower equipment, odour control plants, disinfection plants and sludge treatment plants.
•Concept, Functional and Preliminary design of various pumping systems for water, wastewater and sludge treatment plants
•Concept, Functional and Preliminary design of ancillary systems including chemical feed systems, mechanical ventilation systems, and drainage systems.
•Preparation of General Arrangement and equipment layout drawings.
•Preparation of mechanical process equipment and pump specifications.
•Review and evaluation of vendor submissions.
•Coordination with other disciplines eg civil, structural, electrical, building systems, and instrumentation & control designers.
•Attend meetings, discussions to liaise with clients, contractors, vendors and to participate/ lead design discussions.
•Provide engineering support for bids & proposals.
•Provide engineering support during construction
•Provide engineering support during commissioning
•Design management and project management of proposals and projects where the scope is primarily mechanical / process.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
•Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia
•Minimum 5 years relevant in experience in water and wastewater
•Familiar with Australian Standards
•Familiar with design management processes, safety in design, quality management etc
•Experience working on projects for major water utilities and contractors
•Able to work independently as well as in a team to meet tight project timelines
•Australian citizen or permanent resident.
