Electrical Engineer 4
Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expands knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Work as lead electrical engineer; assist the engineering manager in managing projects and client relationships as well as marketing engineering services to the client; plan, develop, schedule engineering efforts for substation design projects; coordinate the work of subordinate engineers, technicians and drafters, but no hire/fire or similar manager authority; perform quality assurance check and review the work of the designers and subordinate engineers; coordinate with personnel in other departments/offices, client personnel to review designs and resolve areas of concern; coordinate with personnel in other departments/offices, vendors/suppliers and client personnel to provide the pricing and response to the request for proposal from the clients under the supervision of engineering manager; perform special studies or analyses involving review, research calculation, selection, etc., to develop required reports; participate in the job walk down and scope review with the clients to determine the scope of work and pricing for the projects; provide construction support to the client; support continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related plus five years of related experience in protection and control electrical engineering work for substations, or in the alternative, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, plus three years of related experience in protection and control electrical engineering work for substations. Experience must include substation physical layout design, grounding & conduit layout design, electrical system operation, PMU metering, SCADA/Automation and associated system design. Must have experience working with applicable codes and standards for substation projects, including NESC, ASME, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, AISC and CYME. Must have experience with use of tools such as MS Project, Design Manager/EBOM, DOCS Open, Hummingbird, FileNet, Standard Materials Database, AutoCAD, MathCAD, ETAP. Must have experience in related programming and design automation. Must have Professional Engineering license. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
