Primary Purpose Provide engineering related design,
analysis, and studies for domestic or
international projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Engineering design, analysis, and
studies for electric utility
related high voltage transmission
line and substation projects.
Experience should include at least
three years as a project/lead
engineer doing engineering,
detailed physical design, &
technical direction and oversight
of projects teams for substation or
transmission line projects through
500kV. Candidates should have
working knowledge of Transmission
Line specifications, supporting
permitting activities, and able to
support the field construction
professionals by answering design
and engineering questions during
construction periods. The person
hired will be responsible to
interface with clients on design,
operations and construction issues.
Some specific activities include:
•Provide project status reports to
Project Management.
•Develop project design criteria
and communicate it to the project
team.
•Develops, plans, coordinates and
directs the engineering work for a
major project, or several smaller,
but complex projects. This includes
work assignments, scheduling and
review of projects.
•Develops or evaluates
plans/criteria or special analyses
required in support of the
engineering effort.
•Develops new or improved
techniques or procedures for
application in unique engineering.
•Coordinates the design of projects
with involved B&V and client
engineering and personnel.
•Identifies and assesses
improvement opportunities which
will add value. Champions
continuous improvement efforts.
Assesses and supports the change
management effects associated with
the implementation of improvements.
Proactively supports, encourages
and facilitates staff to engage in
continuous improvement activities.
•Mentor subordinate engineers,
designers for program usage.
•Provide direction to and have
accountability for the project
team; overall, acts as mentor to
the project team.
•Supervises a project engineering
staff consisting of subordinate
engineers, designers, drafters and
other assigned support personnel.
This includes staffing, work
assignments, scheduling, personnel
appraisals and work reviews.
•Estimate project costs for
engineering and construction and
ensure compliance with schedule,
budget, quality, and safety
requirements.
•Must be able to communicate and
work well with all clients, vendors
and staff and able to work in a
diverse cultural environment.
•Conduct performance reviews in
accordance with company
requirements.
•Perform personnel evaluations
according to company guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications BS or MS in Engineering.
5+ years engineering experience
preferably with Transmission Line
structure configuration and design,
and material specification
experience.
Preferred Job Qualifications Previous supervisory experience a
plus.
Experience with structural software
such as PLS-CAD (PLS-pole, tower,
lite) preferred.
Project experience with underground
transmission line projects a plus.
MathCAD experience also helpful.
California PE license strongly
preferred.
