Electrical Engineer 3
Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties: Perform routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of electrical engineering principles in substation protection design, including the following: design single line, AC/DC schematics, for protective relaying of substations, including bulk electric systems (345/115 kV); conduct relay coordination studies for substations; review vendor prints; perform grounding analysis for greenfield/brownfield substation sites; physical design of substations; develop cable and conduit schedule, AC/DC voltage drop calculations; review conceptual and wiring schematics for substation design; perform battery sizing calculations; and co-ordinate material handling with project team(s).
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 2 years of related experience, or in the alternative, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 3 years of related experience. Experience must include use of engineering software tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK, EMTP-ATP, ASPEN One Liner; electrical grounding and use of software such as CDEGS. Position involves travel to project sites up to 20% of the time. Proficient use of the English language required.
